I love these Pilot pens. I decided to get a little fancy and got the retro green variant. As with my other black pen, write quality is great. I can leave it for 3 weeks and it writes instantly when I write (using Noodlers Marine Green ink). Using their Heart of Darkness black, I did have to run it over water. But thats my expectation if you're leaving one of these pens for so long. Anyway I'm not an expert with these pens, but I like them enough to have 3.What a fantastic fountain pen for the money! I prefer using it over my lamy safari and parker 51. It has a great ink flow and writes smoothly despite the steel nib. It has a good weight to it and fits comfortably in my medium-sized hand. I'd like to see these made in nicer colors, perhaps without the band design. Note that this is the euro version of the Metropolitan - requires you to order a standard ink converter if you want to fill the pen with your own ink. It comes with a very small cartridge of ink that I did not use.So many raving reviews are already there, that I can hardly add anything new. Why bother writing the review then? To say "thank you" to the people of Pilot who brought to the market a pen, one enjoys returning to. Well... I wouldn't be myself if I did not find something to "complain" about - I would love it to be slightly slimmer, like just under 10mm at the steel ring level, but that's very subjective and the pen still deserves five stars for both the tactile and writing experience.Great pen, fantastic weight and ergonomics feels great in hand. However I own two versions of this pen, and they both take different ink converters, I had to get a pilot c50 from another online retailer, and the other I used Jinhao standard convertersA great starter pen... smooth writer and sits well in the hand. Reasonable weight but not heavy. This is an excellent fountain pen and great value for money
